Task Lists & Checklists

Assigning Tasks by Room, Role, or Person

Roles: Owner, Director set up assignments. Once assigned, any staff member can complete the tasks assigned to them regardless of role.

Every task list is scheduled to a room by default, which is the loosest level of ownership and works fine for anything a staff member present can reasonably handle. Childcare task assignment software exists for the tasks that need something tighter, at three levels:

Room-level, the default, belongs to whoever's in the room that shift. Role-level belongs to whoever's filling a specific role, like the closing manager, regardless of which individual holds it on a given day. Individual-level belongs to one named person, for anything that genuinely needs a single accountable owner instead of whoever happens to be around.

Editing a task inside a task list definition surfaces the assignment option per task, and not every task in a list needs the same level. A room-wide checklist can mix in one or two individually-assigned tasks for the items that actually need a specific owner.

The payoff shows up when something's incomplete at the end of a shift. With a real assignment in place, it's immediately clear whose responsibility it was, not just which room fell behind.
