Staff-to-Child Ratio Compliance
Staff-to-child ratio compliance — also called teacher-child ratio or child-to-caregiver ratio — means a classroom or center maintains at least the minimum number of staff required for the number and age of children present, per state licensing rules or a center's own stricter internal standard.
Ratios are usually expressed one of two ways: a per-staff ratio (for example, one staff member per four infants) or a group-size standard (for example, two staff members for a group of up to ten). Centers often need to check against whichever standard actually applies to a given room, since the two aren't interchangeable.
