Certification Exemptions
Roles: Owner, Director, Manager
A required certification type applies to every active staff member by default, which is usually correct but not always. A janitor or a purely administrative hire often doesn't need the same certifications as a lead teacher, and marking them permanently missing a requirement they were never really supposed to have just adds noise to your compliance view.
Exemptions handle this per person rather than per role. On a staff member's certification record, a specific required type can be waived for that individual without touching the requirement for anyone else. Childcare Owl has no job-title concept beyond the four permission roles, so per-person exemption is the only granularity available, and it happens to be the one that matches how staffing actually works.
Use it for real exceptions. The value of a required-certification list comes from it being genuinely required, and exemptions aren't a way to quietly stop tracking something inconvenient.
